Henry Paine

A master of the vision and techniques of black and white photography, Henry Paine’s works combine the values of fine art and photographic science to support his perception of the nuances of light, shape, texture and form through pictorial design.
Henry’s works are primarily drawn from the local and regional geography of California. He is fascinated by architecture and industrial sites but also enjoys visiting botanical gardens, where he concentrates on plants such as cactus and other succulents.
Henry uses medium- and large-format cameras with black & white film, which he develops in a special formula called “Pyro.” His photographs are silver gelatin, toned in selenium, processed to archival standards, and mounted on acid-free mat board.
A larger selection of his photographs can be seen online at www.henrypaine.com, at www.artistpresentations.com/henrypaine or you may visit his gallery, 147 E Alpine Ave in Stockton.
